Azerbaijani tennis players continue medal run at 3rd CIS Games PHOTO
Azerbaijani tennis players continued their strong showing at the III CIS Games, adding more medals to their tally.
Adil Ahmadzade and Marziya Nurmetova each won silver medals in the individual tennis competitions. Ahmedzade was defeated in the final by Russian Evgeny Vasikov, while Nurmetova lost to Russia’s Zlata Terekova, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Earlier, Onur Guluzade also secured a silver medal in table tennis, falling 0:3 to Russian competitor Evgeny Dosov in the individual event.
With these results, Azerbaijani tennis players have now claimed a total of six medals at the Games: three silver and three bronze. Ahmadzade and Nurmetova are also set to compete in additional final matches later today, aiming to further strengthen Azerbaijan’s medal tally.
The III CIS Games, hosted in Azerbaijan, continue to showcase top athletes from the Commonwealth of Independent States, with competitions running until October 8.
