Azerbaijani women boxers grab gold at Serbian tournament
The Women's Boxing Nations Cup continues in Sombor, Serbia with Azerbaijani athletes having successfully competed at it so far.
According to Azerisport.com, Banuchichak Nasirli (46 kg) has won a gold medal in the junior tournament, defeating in the decisive battle Roksana Talpas of Hungary. Nasirli's success was echoed by Emily Rzayeva (66kg), who, competing in the youth category, defeated European Champion Anastasia Boskovic of Serbia in the final.
Azerbaijan's medal tally, therefore, reached eight.
Earlier bronze medals were grabbed by Sama Huseynova (54 kg, schoolgirls category), Aysu Ismayilova (48 kg) and Narmin Alizade (50 kg), who competed in the youth category, as well as those competed among women - Gunel Rahimova (48 kg), Anakhanim Ismayilova (50 kg) and Esmira Mammadova (63 kg).
Three more women from Azerbaijan have reached the final. In the youth category, Lala Madatova (48 kg) will meet in the decisive battle with Mihaela Badescu of Romania, and Aynur Mikayilova (52 kg) with Dragana Jovanovic of Serbia. In the women's competition, Shahla Allahverdiyeva (52 kg) will fight for gold against Dion Burman of England.
The tournament commenced on January 15 and will finish on January 23.
