Baku Energy Forum kicks off with OPEC support "Green" projects in focus
The 29th Baku Energy Forum has kicked off for the first time with OPEC support.
The 29th Baku Energy Forum, one of the most important events of the Caspian region in the energy sector, is being held on June 5 and 6 within the framework of the Baku Energy Week at the Baku Congress Centre built according to the ecological concept, Trend reports.
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy supports the Baku Energy Forum. The state-owned oil company SOCAR is the event's main partner.
More than 600 delegates are taking part in the forum. In addition to Azerbaijan, the forum will also be attended by representatives of Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Georgia, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, UAE, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. This year's forum programme includes a record number of speakers (81).
The forum's agenda will include energy issues of importance both for Azerbaijan and the entire Caspian region. The main items on the agenda concern the consideration and financing of energy security, energy transition and green energy projects.
The two-day event will discuss topics such as "International Cooperation for Energy Security and Sustainability", "Energy Security 2.0", "Exploration and Production in the Caspian Region", "Sustainable Energy Development: Green Energy Potential in the "Caspian Region", "New Technologies and Digitalisation", "Gas Dialogue: The Role of Gas Supply in the Energy Crisis", "Oil Flows: Cross-Logistics and Infrastructure Development in Azerbaijan" and "The Role of Human Capital in Successful Energy Efficiency".
In addition, given the upcoming SOR29 conference, the Baku Energy Forum programme also includes a special session on "Empowering the Green Agenda: Strategies for Green Planet Progress and COP29".
The decision to host COP29 in Azerbaijan was made on December 12, 2023, during the plenary session of COP28 in Dubai. COP29 will be held in the capital Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024
