Kush Maini leads Formula 2 practice ahead of Azerbaijan Grand Prix UPDATED

ART Grand Prix driver Kush Maini set the fastest time in the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix free practice session in Baku, local media reports.

Alex Dunne of Rodin Motorsport finished second, while Campos Racing’s Nikola Tsolov took third place.

The session marked the opening track activity for Formula 2 at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend.

Free practice for the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix got underway in Baku on Thursday, September 24, with drivers taking to the city circuit at 10:00 a.m. local time, according to domestic media.

Two qualifying sessions are scheduled for later in the day, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., according to the Formula 2 schedule.

The Azerbaijan Formula 1 Grand Prix was moved from Sunday to Saturday because of Remembrance Day on September 27, bringing the entire race-weekend program forward by one day. The 12th round of the Formula 2 championship has been adjusted accordingly and will feature an expanded schedule.

Baku will be the only Formula 2 round this season to feature two feature races during a single weekend.

The F2 program began with a 45-minute free practice session on Thursday morning, followed by two 20-minute qualifying sessions in the afternoon.

The sprint race and the first feature race are scheduled for Friday. The second feature race will take place on Saturday morning, ahead of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The revised format is designed to accommodate the weekend's earlier schedule while allowing the Formula 2 championship to complete its full racing program in Baku.
