Baku's former train station makes way for "hybrid green corridor" From rails to trails/VIDEO
The creation of a new "hybrid green corridor" - one of the environmentally oriented points of the new General Plan of Baku - has started in the capital.
The corridor will stretch from the boulevard to the Republican Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov, Caliber.Az reports.
The scheme of the corridor has been presented to Caliber.Az editorial office by the country’s State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.
According to the plan, there should be pedestrian zones, new trees, bicycle lanes and a tram line.
The former territory of the “Baku-Tovarnaya” railway station, where oil tank cars were sorted in recent years, is being demolished to create a corridor.
Aladdin Guliyev Street passes nearby. This road was opened in 2017 and serves to relieve Yusif Safarov Street, allowing access to Kovkab khanim Safaraliyeva Street (near the former tea factory) and further to the city centre - Dilara Aliyeva Street, the building of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, the monument to Samad Vurgun, 28 May metro station, etc.
