Baku to host open rowing championships

Baku will host the Open Baku Championships in rowing, canoeing and kayaking on July 28, bringing together around 100 athletes from across Azerbaijan.

According to İdman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, the event is being organised by the Baku City Youth and Sports Department in cooperation with the national federation.

The championships will take place on Baku Boulevard, in front of the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation building near the Surakhani museum ship.

Competitors from Baku and Mingachevir will race over a distance of 500 metres in all disciplines. Rowing and canoe events will feature single boats, while kayaking competitions will include both single and double boats.

The tournament will also introduce mixed events for the first time.

Winners and runners-up will be awarded medals and certificates. Organisers said the championships are intended to assess athletes' level of preparation and enhance competition among rowers.
