Baltic states get fully armed with 300km range ATACMS
The US Defense Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has granted approval for the sale of HIMARS missile systems to Latvia, which will be equipped with ATACMS ballistic missiles with a range of 300 kilometers, in addition to 84-kilometer GMLRS missiles.
In total, this deal includes six HIMARS launchers and a relatively limited number of missiles, consisting of 12 packages of GMLRS missiles and 10 M57 ATACMS missiles with high-explosive warheads, according to the Bulgarian Military platform. The maximum potential cost of the agreement, which is yet to be finalized, is $220 million, but the final price may be lower.
It's worth noting that while the quantity of six installations may appear modest, this is a significant acquisition for Latvia, given the size of its armed forces, which consists of approximately 6,600 personnel. Moreover, Latvia is now the third and final Baltic country to procure HIMARS systems.
