Bilal Cakici: Shusha to play major role in uniting Turkic countries
Azerbaijan won the Second Karabakh War, which resulted in the liberation of territories that had been under occupation for long years, including its cultural capital, Shusha. This year Shusha has been declared the capital of the Turkic world.
According to Report, the TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Bilal Cakici made the remark at the ninth meeting of the TURKSOY National Commissions for UNESCO at ADA University on April 7.
"Shusha will play a major role in uniting Turkic countries," he said.
He said more time and effort should be put into preserving the Turkic heritage. "We should invest efforts in preserving and promoting our common values," the assistant secretary general of the organisation added.
TURKSOY celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The event is planned to be celebrated at UNESCO after December 15 is declared as Turkic Language Day within the international organisation, he noted, adding that TURKSOY is in close contact with UNESCO National Commissions.
