Bloomberg: Zelenskyy’s Cabinet reshuffle putting Trump-friendly officials in charge
One of the main goals behind Ukraine’s government reshuffle this week is President Zelenskyy’s desire to appoint leaders who can effectively cooperate with the new US presidential administration, Bloomberg writes.
The publication highlights that Yulia Svyrydenko, now Ukraine’s Prime Minister, played a key role in reaching a relatively acceptable agreement on Ukraine’s natural resources with the United States earlier this year.
After weeks of tough negotiations, both sides managed to present a document regarded as a diplomatic success.
According to Bloomberg’s informed sources, Zelenskyy had been considering replacing Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal with his subordinate, who previously headed the Ministry of Economy, since last year. It was her negotiation achievements with the Americans that reportedly convinced the president to make the change, which was implemented this week.
