Bosnia-Herzegovina rescuers accomplish their mission in Türkiye

A Bosnia-Herzegovina rescue team that took part in a search-and-rescue operation in an earthquake zone in Türkiye has returned home, Anadolu Agency reports.

The 70-member rescue team was said to take part in the rescue operation in Hatay.

Together with the staff of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), they managed to rescue more than 10 people from under the rubble.

An emergency team leader said that the rescuers from Bosnia and Herzegovina reportedly arrived in Türkiye on the third day after the devastating earthquakes with the epicentre in Kahramanmaras.

He said he had never before experienced destruction on such a scale.

The hearts of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina always beat with Türkiye, the team leader said.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is always close to Türkiye. Rescuers from our country came to Türkiye to support the rescue operation. We are glad that we were able to help the Turkish people. We were very warmly welcomed here. We felt the great support of the Turkish people and AFAD," he said.
