Bulgarian ex-president thanks Azerbaijan for support
Bulgarian ex-President Rosen Plevneliev has said that a difficult situation has arisen as a result of Russia's suspension of gas export to Bulgaria.
Plevneliev, who was in power from 2012 through 2017, made these remarks at the panel "Current Challenges to Energy Security: Their Nature, Scale and Effective Ways of Elimination" within the 9th Global Baku Forum, according to Report.
“We are very grateful to the Azerbaijani people and government for supporting us in this difficult situation. Dependence on Russian gas in Europe is planned to be reduced to 50 per cent by late 2022.
“A new gas pipeline is being built between Russia and China. India has also begun to purchase more energy resources from Russia. However, China and India cannot replace Europe for Russia," the ex-president noted.
