Champions League: Qarabağ hold Chelsea to 2-2 draw in Baku
Qarabağ produced another stunning result in the UEFA Champions League by drawing 2-2 with world club champions Chelsea at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium, Caliber.Az reports.
Chelsea opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Estevao, but Qarabağ responded in the 29th minute when Leandro Andrade finished off a brilliant team move to level the score. The home side took the lead just before halftime, with Marco Janković converting a penalty after a handball by Jorrell Hato in the 39th minute. Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho restored parity in the 53rd minute, ensuring the points were shared.
With this result, Qarabağ have accumulated seven points from four matches, moving up to 12th in the group standings. Chelsea also have seven points and remain close behind.
Qarabağ’s next Champions League fixture will be away against Italian side Napoli on November 26.
Earlier in the campaign, Qarabağ defeated Benfica 3-2 in Portugal and beat Copenhagen 2-0 at home, while suffering a 1-3 loss to Athletic Bilbao in Spain.
