China, Georgia upgrade ties to strategic partnership

China and Georgia have entered into a strategic partnership.

The corresponding statement of the parties was published by the Chinese agency Xinhua.

The statement was made on the fifth day of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's visit to China, where the Georgian politician took part in the opening ceremony of the 31st FISU Chengdu World Student Games in China. In China, Garibashvili met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang.

“The parties held an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest and reached a broad consensus. The parties decided to raise bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership,” the statement said.
