Moscow alleges Baltic airspace used for Ukraine attacks
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said Moscow has “verified data” indicating that Latvia and other Baltic states have allowed Ukrainian drones to use their airspace to carry out strikes on Russian territory, an assertion denied by the governments concerned.
“We have verified data that Latvia and other Baltic republics have already provided their air corridors for Ukrainian drones that attacked civilian infrastructure in our country,” Galuzin told RIA Novosti.
Officials in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have previously rejected such claims. In April, the three countries’ foreign ministers said they had never permitted Ukraine to use their airspace for drone attacks on targets inside Russia.
In May, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service said Ukrainian forces were planning to use Baltic territory to conduct drone strikes. Latvia and Lithuania did not confirm those allegations.
