China’s Dongfang Electric plans $250 million wind turbine investment in Türkiye
Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, met with representatives of the Chinese company Dongfang Electric Corporation to discuss a major renewable energy project.
The minister shared the details on his social media account on X, according to Caliber.Az.
Bayraktar emphasised Türkiye’s ambitious goal of reaching a total wind and solar energy capacity of 120,000 megawatts by 2035.
Alongside expanding renewable capacity, Türkiye aims to strengthen its domestic production of wind turbines and solar panels to support the country’s energy transition.
“During the meeting with Dongfang, we discussed an important project that will solidify this goal. We reviewed the Chinese company’s plan to establish a wind turbine manufacturing plant in Türkiye with an annual capacity of 2,000 megawatts and initial investments of approximately $250 million,” Bayraktar wrote.
The planned facility is expected to play a key role in boosting Türkiye’s renewable energy infrastructure while supporting local manufacturing capabilities, marking a significant step in the country’s long-term energy strategy.
