China, US officials discuss upcoming leaders' interaction Strategic dialogue underway
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan have engaged in a new round of strategic discussions focused on the upcoming interactions between the leaders of China and the United States.
The discussions took place in Beijing on August 27-28 and centred on the potential format and timing of future high-level engagements between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
While the exact details of the interaction were not disclosed, the Chinese Foreign Ministry in its statement highlighted the importance of this strategic dialogue in navigating the complex bilateral relationship.
Wang Yi, who also serves as the Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the need for both countries to reflect on past experiences and lessons. He stressed that the guidance of both heads of state is crucial for maintaining a positive trajectory in China-U.S. relations.
Wang reiterated that mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation should be the guiding principles. He urged both sides to implement the agreements reached by their leaders and work towards a stable, healthy, and sustainable relationship.
Li Haidong, a professor at China Foreign Affairs University, underscored the significance of these strategic communications. He noted that such dialogues are vital for managing the bilateral relationship effectively and fostering further cooperation and mutual benefits.
