Baku has been selected to host the 2026 summit of the Council of Heads of State and Government of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay made the announcement in an interview with local media, Caliber.Az
The summit will take place as part of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of CICA, a key platform for fostering cooperation and strengthening trust among Asian nations. Sarybay also revealed that Baku will host an extraordinary meeting of the CICA Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in 2025.
During his visit to Baku, Sarybay held several productive discussions with Azerbaijani officials on the preparations for both the 2026 summit and the upcoming CFM meeting in 2025. He emphasized the importance of careful planning to ensure the effective implementation of Azerbaijan’s priorities during its CICA chairmanship.
The most recent CICA event, the 7th Ministerial Council meeting, took place online on December 17, 2024. It was attended by 27 member countries, 3 observer states, and 8 international partner organizations. During this meeting, the chairmanship of CICA was officially transferred from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan for the 2024-2026 period.

Through dialogue and cooperation, CICA members aim to create a shared security environment where all states co-exist peacefully and their people live in prosperity and freedom.
