Container traffic in Baku port may increase in 2022
Container transshipment at the Baku International Sea Trade Port (Baku Port) in Garadagh region's Alat settlement may be 1.5 times higher in 2022 than in 2021.
Khudayar Hasanli, the head of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC's strategic planning and development department, made the remarks in an interview with Report.
“Before the change in the geopolitical situation, our forecast for 2022 for shipments was 48,000-50,000 containers (TEU). Due to a change in the geopolitical situation, this figure may double compared to 2021. The goods expected along the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) have not yet arrived in full, but primary cargo and block trains have begun to arrive. Container transportation is expected to grow 1.5 times if the cargo arrives in full volume," Hasanli said.
