Azerbaijan, World Bank forge closer ties to boost Middle Corridor development
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, held discussions with Rolande Pryce, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation in key infrastructure and digital domains.
According to a statement shared by Minister Nabiyev on his official X account, the meeting centered on advancing joint initiatives under the Azerbaijan Transport and Communication Holding (AZCON), Caliber.Az reports.
Central to the dialogue was the strategic development of the Middle Corridor – a trans-Caspian trade route that aims to enhance regional connectivity between Asia and Europe.
“We discussed the implementation of joint projects with organizations within AZCON, including collaboration on the development of the Middle Corridor and enhancing Azerbaijan’s transit potential,” the minister stated.
In addition to transit infrastructure, the two sides agreed on a series of coordinated steps to strengthen cooperation in cyber security and urban mobility, areas increasingly critical to Azerbaijan’s long-term digital and urban development strategy.
The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), has gained growing geopolitical and economic importance as countries seek diversified and resilient trade pathways.
