Azerbaijani minister calls for expanded cooperation with Islamic Development Bank at Algeria meeting
Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has shared a publication on the X social network about the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group, which is taking place in Algeria on May 19-22.
"Expanding cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) holds particular significance for us. We are pleased to represent our country at the Annual Meeting of the IsDB Group in Algeria," Caliber.Az quotes Jabbarov as saying in the post.
For the record, the 2025 Annual Meetings of the IsDB Group are taking place from May 19 to 22, 2025, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers, Algeria. Under the theme “Diversifying Economies, Enriching Lives,” the event served as a high-level strategic platform to enhance development cooperation and knowledge exchange among member countries.
The event gathered over 4,000 participants, including ministers of finance, economy, international development, and planning from its 57 member countries. It also brought together leaders from global financial institutions, development partners, private sector representatives, policymakers, and civil society organisations. This diverse assembly focused on discussing sustainable solutions to socio-economic development challenges and promoting inclusive growth across member states.
For Azerbaijan, collaboration with the IsDB Group represents a strategic opportunity to diversify its economy, attract investment, and implement sustainable development projects aligned with its national priorities. Azerbaijan, a member of the IsDB since 1993, has increasingly sought to deepen financial and technical cooperation with the bank to support its ambitious economic reforms and infrastructure modernisation.
