An Azerbaijani delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev has visited Spain to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

The visit included a Spain–Azerbaijan roundtable, the second Strategic Economic Dialogue between the two countries, as well as meetings with Spanish officials, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Economy.

During the discussions, Aliyev emphasised the importance Azerbaijan attaches to its relations with Spain and highlighted significant potential for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, technology, innovation, and other sectors.

He also drew attention to investment opportunities in the Alat Free Economic Zone, industrial zones near the Baku International Sea Trade Port, as well as the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. Spanish Secretary of State for Trade Amparo López Senovilla praised the development of bilateral economic relations and shared views on expanding mutual investment and business ties.

Within the framework of the visit, the Second Strategic Economic Dialogue between Spain and Azerbaijan was held. Participants underlined favourable prospects for increasing trade turnover, expanding investment flows, and strengthening cooperation in priority areas through the economic dialogue mechanism.

A protocol for the second meeting of the Strategic Economic Dialogue was signed, along with a roadmap outlining cooperation in trade, investment, transport and transit, and other fields, the ministry said.

In a separate meeting between Aliyev and Senovilla, both sides discussed increasing trade turnover, expanding investment cooperation, strengthening ties between business communities, and other related issues.
