Azerbaijan sees rise in ferrous metal exports in early 2026
Azerbaijan increased its exports of ferrous metals and related products in the first quarter of 2026, according to data released by the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
Between January and March, export volumes reached 20,265 metric tonnes, marking a 9.9 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025. In value terms, exports rose by 19.1 per cent to approximately $24.9 million, Caliber.Az reports.
Despite the growth, ferrous metals accounted for a relatively small share of Azerbaijan’s overall exports, making up 0.46 per cent of total trade, up from 0.33 per cent a year earlier.
At the same time, imports of ferrous metals and related products declined. Azerbaijan imported around 248,084 tonnes during the first quarter, an 11.2 per cent decrease year-on-year. The value of these imports fell by 1.7 per cent to roughly $271.6 million.
However, the share of ferrous metal imports in the country’s total import structure increased to 6.78 per cent, compared with 4.88 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting broader shifts in trade patterns.
