Azerbaijan’s economy minister joins EBRD governors’ session in London
Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov took part in the opening of the session of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
“As part of the Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, we attended the Opening Session of the EBRD Board of Governors. Discussions during the session focused on the efficient use of economic resources in the context of global developments, the establishment of infrastructure to support climate action, digital transformation, investments in modern business solutions, the adoption of advanced industrial policy practices, ensuring social protection,” Jabbarov wrote on X, per Caliber.Az.
For the record: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) holds its Annual Meeting and Business Forum each year, gathering high-level representatives from member countries, private sector stakeholders, and civil society to discuss key global economic challenges and development strategies. The Board of Governors, composed of ministers and central bank heads from the EBRD’s 74 shareholder countries, serves as the Bank’s highest decision-making body.
Azerbaijan has been a member of the EBRD since 1992 and has developed a strong partnership with the institution, which has invested over €3.7 billion across more than 190 projects in the country. These investments span various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, finance, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In recent years, the EBRD has increased its focus on promoting green growth, digital transformation, and gender equality, all of which align with Azerbaijan’s goals for economic modernisation and diversification.
