Dagestan lauds good neighbourly ties with Azerbaijan
The authorities of Russia's Dagestan intend to establish relations with the Caspian Sea countries for the development of the North-South transport corridor.
Dagestani leader Sergei Melikov made the statement in an interview with TASS during the Eastern Economic Forum.
According to him, a Dagestani delegation plans to visit Azerbaijan and Iran soon.
"Today we consider all the countries of the Caspian Basin as partners. Here we are working consistently to understand this interest ... with those who are closer to us as part of the development of the transport and logistics corridor. And in the future - already with other states," Melikov said.
He added that Dagestan has developed "good neighbourly relations" with Azerbaijan, and the intergovernmental commission created between the countries, among other things, is considering improving the quality of work of checkpoints to expand the capacity of the transport and logistics corridor.
