Deputy FM points out that Armenia continues to be hindrance to stability in region
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan held an event on January 19 dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the January 20 massacre that occurred in multiple cities, but especially Baku, also known as "Black January".
According to Caliber.Az, referring to the ministry, the participants of the event honored the victims by holding a minute of silence the memory of the martyrs who lost their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. A video on the 20 January tragedy was then shown.
Addressing the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov noted that January 20 has gone down in history as a heroic page of the Azerbaijani people and became a symbol for the struggle and unbridled will of Azerbaijanis in the name of independence and territorial integrity of the Motherland. Diplomat Khalafov talked about the crimes committed against the peaceful population of Azerbaijan, as well as about the victories by national leader Heydar Aliyev in his political and legal assessment of the events, bringing them to the attention of the world public.
The deputy minister stressed that the liberation of the Azerbaijani lands from the almost 30-year occupation pleased the souls of our shahids (martyrs) and said that this brilliant victory has shaped new realities in the region. Addressing the constant military and political provocations of Armenia, the events around the Lachin Road and the protest rally of representatives of Azerbaijani civil society, Khalafov noted that although Armenia still disrupts stability in the region, Azerbaijan continues to advance the peace agenda and continues its efforts in this direction.
