Deputy FM: Ultimatums have no place in dialogue with Russia
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has said that dialogue with Europe cannot be conducted through ultimatums, urging European governments to present concrete proposals instead of demands.
Speaking to journalists, as reported by Russian media, Galuzin said Moscow remained open to engagement but criticised what he described as the approach taken by some European states.
“If Europeans want dialogue, they always know where to turn. The question is what exactly Europeans are bringing to us,” he said, adding that certain countries appeared to treat negotiations as a platform for “absurd demands, claims and ultimatums”.
He argued that such language “will not work with Russia” and would prevent “substantive dialogue” from taking place.
“If they genuinely want dialogue, then let them put forward concrete ideas, and we will see whether those ideas are worth discussing or not,” he added.
