Deputy minister: Azerbaijani Navy to get dozens of new ships
Azerbaijan's maritime fleet will be renewed with about 20 ships in the coming years, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Elmin Mammadov said.
He made the remarks while speaking at the event “Sustainable Transport for the Future”, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He said that in the coming months, Baku Metro CJSC will be renewed with 35 new cars.
“As an example of the work done, the aviation fleet will also be renewed with more than 30 modern aircrafts.”
Notably, Azerbaijan’s maritime transport fleet includes passenger ferries, Ro-Ro vessels, oil tankers, dry cargo vessels, pipeline, scientific research, rescue and emergency, towing and diving support vessels, excavators, as well as large tonnage crane ships having no analogues.
The offshore support fleet is comprised of 162 vessels: 21 crane vessels, 8 tanker vessels, 3 supply vessels, 2 tug vessels, 15 supply and tug vessels, 21 passenger ships, 7 harbour tug vessels, 2 pipelay barges, 5 firefighting vessels, 4 geological survey vessels, 10 diving support vessels, and 64 other support vessels.
