Destroyed railway tracks heavily contaminated with landmines Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency says
Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has said in a report that the destroyed railroad tracks and their sections are heavily contaminated with mines.
"Sometimes people prefer to walk along the railroad track, considering it dangerous to walk along the path or grass. But it can be even more dangerous. We should not forget that destroyed railroad tracks and their sections are seriously contaminated with mines," the report by the Agency said, APA informs.
In violation of the 1949 Geneva Convention, during the years of occupation and at the moment of withdrawal from Azerbaijani lands in late 2020 and even after the second Karabakh war, Armenia deliberately and constantly planted mines on Azerbaijani territories, thereby being a significant threat to regional peace, security, and cooperation.
Civilians and military personnel are frequently maimed or killed due to mine explosions in Azerbaijan's liberated regions.
