Envoy: Kazakhstan’s nuclear plant to strengthen integration with Russia
The construction and operation of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant with Russian participation will create an entire economic cluster, actively utilizing Kazakhstan’s resources, Russian Ambassador to Astana Alexey Borodavkin said.
In an interview with TASS, Borodavkin noted that he believes it is fair to say the project will boost the development of the construction and transport sectors, healthcare, services, and the Kazakh economy overall, while also strengthening economic integration, as it will be implemented jointly, Caliber.Az reports.
“Kazakhstan’s resources will be used in both construction and operation of the plant,” he stressed.
The diplomat emphasised that uranium mined in Kazakhstan will serve as fuel for the plant, and Kazakh nuclear scientists, already being trained at the branch of Russia’s National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, will participate.
“In other words, a new economic cluster is being created in Kazakhstan,” Borodavkin added.
