Erdoğan calls for joint defence framework among Turkic states
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasised the need for a joint defence capability among Turkic states and underlined the region’s growing role in maintaining stability and security.
Speaking at the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of Turkic States, Erdoğan said Türkiye was not merely observing events in the South Caucasus but actively supporting steps aimed at establishing peace, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He highlighted the expectation for the continuation of the Joint Statement signed in Washington on August 8.
Erdoğan also praised a meeting of defence ministers held in July, describing it as a significant step toward creating a shared defence framework.
The Turkish leader called for an acceleration in the development of a common Turkic alphabet, noting that works on Chingiz Aitmatov and the “Oghuzname” had already been published in the unified script. He said that copies would be presented to each participating leader.
“Let us designate December 15 as the Day of the Common Turkic Language,” Erdoğan concluded.
