European Union supports continuation of Armenia, Azerbaijan border delimitation
The European Union welcomes the continuation of the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, says a statement by the EU.
"The EU welcomes the progress made within the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process based on the 1991 Almaty Agreement and in particular the protocol signed during the 9th meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Border Commissions on May 15, which led to an agreement on several sections of the border,” Caliber.Az reports.
"The EU calls on the parties to take further decisive steps to resolve other outstanding bilateral issues and remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at establishing sustainable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus region," the document says.
On May 15, 2024, the 9th meeting of the State Commissions of the two countries on state border delimitation and border security was held on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. During the meeting, a protocol was agreed on the sections of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border in four areas.
