Ex-Israeli PM blasts Hezbollah strikes on Beit Shemesh
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett commented on the events in Beit Shemesh and Hezbollah’s overnight rocket attacks, stating that Hezbollah’s decision to join the war the previous night was a huge mistake, Israeli Telegram channel reports.
He added that Israel now had the green light to dismantle and remove Hezbollah’s layers of rockets, defence systems, and lethal production, and that the group would regret the moment they took this action.
An Iranian ballistic missile struck the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh on March 1, 2026, killing multiple civilians and injuring dozens in what authorities described as one of the deadliest direct hits on Israeli territory amid a wider Iran–Israel conflict.
The projectile struck residential areas and a public shelter, causing extensive structural damage that rescue teams worked to clear.
The strike occurred as part of a broader wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks launched in retaliation after a joint US–Israeli military offensive against Iran on February 28. Iranian forces targeted central Israeli towns beyond Beit Shemesh during this barrage.
