Armenia's National Security Service has identified a group that organised the illegal emigration of the country's citizens to the EU states.
According to the case file, the head of the Muay Thai (Thai boxing) Federation A.B. organised the emigration of Armenian citizens to third countries in August-November 2022, receiving $3,400-7,000 for each, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
In particular, he provided false documents stating that those moving were athletes or coaches of the federation they represented to obtain a visa to the countries of the Schengen area.
"Numerous false documents, blank templates, as well as other data relevant to criminal proceedings were discovered and seized as a result of searches in the apartment and car of a member of the criminal group, as well as in the office of the federation," the Armenian National Security Service press service reported.
It is reported that one of the band members has been arrested. Investigative measures are being taken to identify all persons involved in the crime. The federation is reportedly led by Artak Brutyan.
