Finland, Latvia to host 2023 Ice Hockey World Cup
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has decided to host the 2023 World Championships in Tampere (Finland) and Riga (Latvia).
"The IIHF Congress approved the joint bid of Finland and Latvia to host the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship instead of St. Petersburg after Russia's rights to host the tournament were revoked," Interfax reports referring to the IIHF statement.
The tournament will be held from 12 to 28 May 2023.
The venues for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 World Championships have also been selected. So the world championship in 2024 will be hosted by Czech Prague and Ostrava (the competition will be held from May 10 to 26), in 2025 - Swedish Stockholm and Danish Herning (May 9-25), and in 2026 - Swiss Zurich and Fribourg (15-31 May).
