First plenary meeting of autumn session of Milli Majlis scheduled for September 30
The first plenary meeting of the autumn session of the Milli Majlis of VII convocation is set to take place on September 30, marking the beginning of an important legislative period for Azerbaijan.
According to the internal regulations of the Milli Majlis, the fall session officially starts on September 30 and continues until December 30, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
If the starting date coincides with a weekend, holiday, or voting day, the session will instead commence on the next available working day, ensuring that all members can participate fully.
In this inaugural session, MP Ziyad Samedzadeh, who is 84 years old and was elected from the 23rd Nasimi-Sabail constituency, will chair the proceedings. As stipulated in the internal statute of the Milli Majlis, the first session of parliament is presided over by the oldest member.
During the session, Samedzadeh will read the list of newly elected parliamentarians and will lead the discussions until the election of a permanent chairman for the session. Following this introductory phase, he will propose the formation of the Counting Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the election process of the Chairman of the Milli Majlis and his deputies.
This first plenary meeting is a significant event in the legislative calendar, setting the agenda for the autumn session and allowing the newly elected members to engage in parliamentary duties and discussions that will impact the future direction of Azerbaijan’s governance. The session is expected to address various pressing issues and initiatives critical to the country's development.
