Flooding spreads across 18 settlements in Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai
Flooding has spread to new areas of Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai as floodwaters shifted along the Amur and Ussuri rivers, the regional emergencies ministry said on Max on August 21.
Eighteen settlements are currently affected, with 452 dacha plots, 20 household plots and 19 sections of road flooded, according to the ministry.
In the Amur district, rising water levels on the Amur have expanded the affected area, while the Amursk–Ommi road remains cut off. Local roads have also been flooded in the villages of Achan and Vidnoye.
The Amur near Khabarovsk, however, fell by 2cm over the past 24 hours to 504cm.
Russia’s Hydrometeorological Centre said water levels remained high on the Middle and Lower Amur, with parts of the river floodplain submerged to depths of up to 2.4 metres.
Water levels are also continuing to rise on the Pravyi Podkhorenok, Podkhorenok, Khor, Matai and Ussuri rivers following recent rainfall.
