Four Azerbaijani athletes set to compete in Paris Olympics on Aug. 7
Four more representatives of Azerbaijan will compete at the Summer Olympics in Paris on August 7.
Taekwondist Gashim Magomedov will be the first to take to the tatami, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In the weight category up to 58kg he will try to defeat Irishman Jack Walley in 1/8 finals. The bout will start at 11:46 Baku time.
Greco-Roman wrestlers Hasrat Jafarov (67kg) and Rafik Huseynov (87kg) will also join the competition. Their bouts will start at 13:00 Baku time. In 1/8 finals they will meet Mohamed Essayed (Egypt) and David Losonzi (Hungary).
Another representative of Azerbaijan in Greco-Roman wrestling, Sanan Suleymanov, will fight for the bronze medal. His opponent in the weight category up to 77kg will be known after the consolation bouts. The bronze bout will start at 20:15 Baku time.
The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will end on August 11.
Judoists Hidayat Heydarov (73kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100kg) brought two gold medals to Azerbaijan. Boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92kg) secured at least a silver medal by reaching the final.
