French MP: Macron worst president of Fifth Republic
French National Assembly’s Liberties, Independents, Overseas and Territories (LIOT) parliamentary group Chairman Bertrand Pancher criticised President Emmanuel Macron for his "very closed-mindedness" and the fact that he "decides everything himself”.
Pancher once again deplored the "denial of democracy" by the presidential camp, Caliber.Az reports, referring to the French newspaper Le Figaro.
On June 7, French National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet ejected the amendments made to Article 1, which provides for the abolition of retirement at age 64.
"Never before has a text supported by a parliamentary group been rejected by the Assembly," Pancher told France 2.
Bertrand Pancher, who is expected to speak in defence of the group's text being considered in a public session on June 8, will directly condemn what he considers a "frontal attack against democracy," namely Yael Braun-Pivet's actions.
Initially resistant to the idea of pushing through the bill, she succumbed, in his opinion, to "pressure" from the head of state, using "all the tricks to avoid a vote. According to Panchet, the responsibility for these "little manoeuvres" lies on the Elysée Palace.
"Macron decides everything himself, he is withdrawn," he criticises, pointing to the president's inability to "listen”.
The LIOT chairman wryly added: "Emmanuel Macron is the worst president of the Fifth Republic. Nicolas Sarkozy would have done much better, and François Hollande would probably have listened more."
That said, Bertrand Pancher talked openly about a change of government.
"The day we pass a vote of no confidence, we will indeed change the government," Panchet warned.
