French official: Paris does not recognize independence of Karabakh
Speaker of the French National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet has said that Frnace does not recognise Karabakh's independence.
As Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media, Braun-Pivet stated this on January 13 at a joint press conference with her Armenian counterpart Alen Simonyan in Yerevan.
"France does not recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh in accordance with international law, to which we are subject," Yael Braun-Pivet stressed.
"France will do everything to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Nagorno-Karabakh," she added.
The politican recalled that the parliament also appealed to the French government with a call to strengthen assistance to Armenia, to support the dialogue between Yerevan and Baku.
The Speaker of the French National Assembly stressed the need to restore dialogue between the parties in order to achieve a peaceful and long-term solution to the conflict.
France, according to the parliamentarian, always supports Armenia in strengthening its sovereignty and independence.
