Gas pipeline explosion in Pakistan leaves dead and injured
An explosion followed by a fire occurred on a gas pipeline in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. According to preliminary reports, eight people were killed in the incident.
The incident took place in the evening on a gas pipeline near an industrial facility in the Hattar zone. As a result of the fire, eight people were killed, including children, and 11 others were injured. All the injured were taken to nearby medical facilities, Dawn reports.
According to authorities, the fire also spread to residential houses located about 200 metres from the site of the incident. Despite the gas supply being shut off, the fire continued for around two hours, and firefighting efforts were complicated.
The blaze has now been extinguished. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
