Georgia, Kazakhstan pledge to deepen strategic ties
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held one-on-one talks, during which they reaffirmed the strategic partnership between their countries and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation, the Kazakh president's press service stated.
Tokayev said Kobakhidze's visit was of exceptional importance for strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Georgia.
"I would like to emphasize that Georgia is regarded by Kazakhstan as a strategically important and longstanding partner. As head of state, I will certainly make every effort to ensure that our cooperation continues to develop steadily and delivers tangible results.
Today, a great many Kazakh tourists visit Georgia, and they return with overwhelmingly positive impressions. Of course, there are also certain untapped opportunities, and we must make every effort to fully realize the existing potential in order to give additional momentum to our bilateral cooperation," Tokayev said.
For his part, Kobakhidze described it as a great honor to visit Kazakhstan and hold talks with the Kazakh leader.
"We attach special importance to relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan, and we are very pleased that this partnership has become strategic. That is the true essence of our cooperation.
However, as you have already mentioned, there is enormous untapped potential, and we must do everything possible to make the fullest use of it. We maintain very strong political and economic ties between our countries, as well as cooperation in education, culture, and many other areas. We are highly committed to strengthening our cooperation across all these fields," Kobakhidze said.
