Georgia protests OSCE Hague Declaration, exits plenary meeting
Georgia’s delegation walked out of a plenary session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Wednesday, July 8, in protest over a draft Hague Declaration that includes a resolution concerning the country, Caliber.Az reported via Georgian media.
The move was prompted by objections to the content of the proposed declaration, which Tbilisi’s representatives say misrepresents the domestic political situation and undermines national interests.
“Certain parts of the declaration deliberately distort the political reality in Georgia, grossly and inaccurately present and falsify facts, completely ignore violent attacks on state institutions, and arbitrarily interpret reports of both election observation missions and the ‘Moscow Mechanism,’ which creates a threat to Georgia’s national interests,” MP Nikoloz Samkharadze said.
