Georgian analyst: France-Armenia collusion not to bring benefit

17 January 2024 19:46

France-Armenia collusion will not bring benefit to these countries.

France supports Armenia’s destructive position in the peace process with Azerbaijan, Georgian political analyst Simon Kopadze told the Georgian bureau of Report.

The collusion between France and Armenia will not bring any positive results for both countries, he noted.

The political analyst emphasised that in the period after the second Karabakh war, Azerbaijan came up with the initiative for peace.

“Baku has always created conditions for peace. The Armenian authorities believed that they would achieve something by entering into an agreement with France. However, they won't succeed. To achieve any progress, the Armenian side must, at least at the initial stage, agree to hold meetings in Tbilisi at the expert level,” he said.

Kopadze noted that Armenia has no opportunity to participate in all economic projects in the region due to its own activity.

“Armenia has nothing to present to Azerbaijan, otherwise it would have done this long ago. Azerbaijan did not violate human rights, did not torture Armenian military personnel and did not violate international law,” he said.

The expert emphasised that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people want to sign a peace treaty with Armenia. Baku has always supported peace in the region.

“Azerbaijan stands for peace in the region, which in turn will contribute to strengthening the economy and improving the well-being of peoples. Of course, many countries are concerned about this process. Azerbaijan has managed to establish excellent relations with all countries and has become one of the most attractive countries for making investments,” the political analyst noted.

Kopadze also touched upon the upcoming snap presidential elections in Azerbaijan on February 7.

“For the first time within 30 years, elections will be held throughout Azerbaijan. This is a very important event. This time entire Azerbaijan will vote,” he added.
