Ai-95 petrol breaks all-time record in Russia
The exchange price of Ai-95 petrol in Russia has reached an all-time high, breaking records throughout the week and surpassing 80,000 roubles (approximately $1,000 USD) per ton for the first time in the country’s history.
According to trading data, Ai-95 petrol prices have set new daily records over the past five days, underscoring growing pressure in Russia’s domestic fuel market, Caliber.Az reports.
On August 8, the benchmark petrol price rose by 0.8%, closing at 80,206 roubles per ton.
The sharp price surge follows the Russian government's decision in late July to impose a complete ban on petrol exports in an effort to stabilise domestic supply. Since the ban was implemented, the price of Ai-95 petrol has increased by 7.2%, highlighting ongoing volatility despite state intervention.
Ai-95 is one of the most commonly used grades of petrol in Russia, and its rising cost may soon ripple through other sectors, including transport and logistics, potentially adding further inflationary pressure on the economy.
