Georgian opposition demands visa regime for Russians
The Georgian authorities are obliged to introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens against the backdrop of "mass entry" of Russians into the country, the chairman of the Georgian opposition European Democrats party, Nikoloz Vashakidze, said.
This issue worries all Georgians, according to Novosti-Georgia.
“The rapidly developing migration from Russia to Georgia is already worrying everyone, except for the country's leadership. There are many examples in the world of what dangers a sharp change in the demographic picture brings for any, including powerful countries <…>. In the current situation, it is necessary that the opposition and society strongly demand that the authorities make public their vision of the dynamics and management of the problem. One of the first and urgent measures should be the introduction of a visa regime with the Russian Federation and a radical restriction of the flow of people moving to Georgia,” Vashakidze said.
