Georgian State Security Service: Russian tourists do not pose threat to security
Growth in the number of Russian tourists doesn't threaten Georgia's security, Head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili said.
He recalled that Russian tourists came to Georgia in 2018 and in 2019, Lenta.Ru reports.
"In 2019, there were exactly twice as many of them in the reporting period, with no sabotage or terrorist acts. Our services together with the Interior Ministry and other agencies are trying their best to filter out undesirable guests," Liluashvili pointed out.
According to him, no one will have a chance to see foreigners detained or expelled from the country in public if they are not found guilty of malicious or suspicious activities.
"So, be calm, don't panic," Liluashvili said.
He noted that the statistics of criminal violations by incoming tourists are zero.
