German Football League drops title sponsor plans for Bundesliga
The Bundesliga will not have a title sponsor in the foreseeable future, German Football League (DFL) managing director Marc Lenz said, according to foreign media.
"All options are being discussed. But no, this was not an option for us," Lenz told reporters.
Lenz was also questioned on whether the recent agreement with sportswear manufacturer Adidas involved any discussions about introducing an official Bundesliga naming sponsor.
Major leagues in Italy, Spain and France continue to operate with title sponsorship deals, while England has moved away from such arrangements.
Under the Adidas agreement announced last month, the DFL is set to secure a loan of up to €100 million ($117.3 million) aimed at boosting its media and marketing initiatives.
