Heavy snowfall in Kazakhstan's Almaty causes delays for dozens of flights
A heavy snowfall that began overnight on December 9 has disrupted operations at Almaty’s international airport, causing delays for multiple flights, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
The airport administration issued a statement through its press service, explaining the situation: “Due to the intense snowfall and reduced visibility, a number of flights have been rescheduled to later times.”
To maintain safety, airport personnel are conducting continuous snow removal on runways, taxiways, and aprons. In addition, aircraft are receiving anti-icing treatments to ensure operational safety. As of now, 38 flights have been reported as delayed.
The press service emphasised that airport services have been reinforced and are working in close coordination with airlines. “Any decisions regarding departures and arrivals are made based on the latest weather conditions and strict flight safety requirements,” the statement said.
