South Korean city unveils plans for Formula 1 street circuit
17 April 2026 20:25
Officials in Incheon have announced plans to develop a new Formula 1 street circuit, with the aim of bringing the sport back to South Korea by 2028, according to The Korea Times.
The proposed track is expected to be designed in the style of established street circuits such as those in Singapore and Las Vegas. City authorities estimate the event could attract around 400,000 spectators annually and become financially viable within five years, potentially generating up to $790 million.
South Korea previously hosted Formula One Korean Grand Prix races between 2010 and 2013 at a circuit in Yeongam. However, the event was discontinued due to financial challenges and limited local interest at the time.
