Iran deploys new air defence systems at sensitive sites, general says
The commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, Iran's central air defence headquarters, Brigadier General Qader Rahimzadeh, has announced the installation of a series of new, secret air defence systems near the country's most sensitive locations.
Rahimzadeh stated that these new systems, unknown to foreign adversaries, will be deployed in an upcoming joint war game involving both the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The large-scale exercise, scheduled to take place in the coming days, will see air defence units from both branches practice the skills they have honed over the past year.
According to Rahimzadeh, the drill will be tailored to the latest developments in enemy strategies and Iran's evolving air defence needs.
In 2018, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underscored the strategic importance of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, describing it as a vital component of Iran's armed forces at the forefront of defending against external threats.
He also emphasized the need to accelerate the enhancement of both the base's capabilities and the training of its personnel.
